ICEX Spain Exports and Investments organises, through the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Seoul, a Spain-Korea Business Meeting, which will take place from 23 to 25 October 2019 in Seoul, with the aim of facilitating Spanish companies to identify opportunities for investment and business cooperation as well as potential local partners helping to promote, consolidate and strengthen their presence in this market.

SOME MARKET DATA (See the attached call for a complete view):

- According to data from the International Monetary Fund, South Korea ranks as the eleventh largest economy in the world and the fourth largest among the Asian powers. Likewise, Korea ranks fifth according to the World Bank classification Doing Business 2019;

- South Korea is currently the 9th largest importer of goods in the world, the 3rd largest in Asia, and the 10th largest importer of services in the world; 

- The South Korean economy is an eloquent example of economic development and rapid and sustained growth for 6 decades, until it becomes an advanced high-income country (US$ 31,345 per capita income in 2018);

- It is the country with the highest ratio of investment in R&D to GDP worldwide (4.55%, well above the OECD average of 2.37%);

- The government is making large investments in Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Cloud, Big Data and Semiconductors, with the aim of adapting the country's industry to 4.0; 

- The Free Trade Agreement between the EU and South Korea, which entered into force in 2011, has created a favourable environment for the creation of new opportunities in trade in goods and services and in investment.

This activity can be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
