SEOUL, March 3 (Yonhap) - The fifth largest manufacturer of mobile phones, LG Electronics Inc., said last Sunday that global sales of its smartphones that operate on networks of long-term evolution (LTE, according its acronym in English) have exceeded 10 million units.
LG said it passed the milestone last week by the combined sales in 10 countries, including the U.S. and Japan.
Park Jong-seok, head of the mobile communications unit of LG, said last week that LG aims to sell over 40 million smartphones in the world this year. and it also plans to double sales of its LTE devices.
LG introduced new lines of smartphones in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, held last week, ranging from Optimus Pro high-end G to F series of economical line of LTE.
