SEOUL, July 4 (Bernama) - The government said Thursday it plans to train 5,000 experts in 2017 and encourage cooperation between government agencies concerned, in order to better address the growing concerns about the cybersecurity.
According to the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, the Government will also develop related industry cyber security of the country to reach 10 trillion won (8.76 billion dollars) for 2017, compared with the current 5 trillion won (4.38 billion dollars).
Under the measures, the presidential office will take the role of a watchtower for cybersecurity and encourage cooperation between government agencies concerned, such as the National Intelligence Service and the Ministry of Defence.
The measures are due to unidentified hackers attacked the websites of the Office of the President, other government agencies and various media organizations on 25 June, the anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, 1950 - 53, which ended in a cease-fire, not a peace treaty.
Responsibility for the attack has been attributed to Anonymous, a group of hackers.
The ministry said a total of 67 institutions were affected by the cyber attack of June 25, and about 84 percent of the systems were recovered.
