SEOUL, July 25 (Yonhap) - South Korea and North Korea began to celebrate, this Thursday, the sixth round of working-level meetings in the Kaesong industrial complex, to normalize its operations.
North and South Korea are expected to be put on guard on setting the safeguard to prevent the disruption of work in the industrial complex, located in the northern border city, according to the South Korean government.
The two sides have met five times this month, but have made little progress, aside from agreeing in principle to reopen the estate located just north of the Demilitarized Zone, limited to exchange their positions in the previous meetings, without narrowing their differences.
Seoul has demanded Pyongyang to promise not close again unilaterally industrial complex and develop a legal system to protect the safety and property rights of Koreans to invest and work in the polygon.
Meanwhile, North Korea has emphasized the early reopening of the industrial park, without responding to South Korean demand, criticizing South Korea to suspend its operation.
The operation of the Kaesong industrial complex was suspended on April 9, when North Korea withdrew its 53,000 workers in the industrial park, angry at the annual military exercises between South Korea and the United States and the new resolution of the Security Council UN against its third nuclear test. Also banned the entry of personnel and materials in South Korea, which led to Seoul to withdraw its workers from the exhibition, after the North rejected the ultimatum to participate in the official negotiations on restarting stalled operations.
