Sejong, Oct. 2 (Yonhap) - The Ministry of Fishing and Oceans said Wednesday, organized a ceremony last Sunday to commemorate the opening of the "Center for Fisheries Research and Maritime Cooperation in South Korea" in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The ceremony, attended by about 50 people, including the director of Korean ministry maritime policies, Moon Hae-nam, president of the Port Authority of La Palmas de Gran Canaria, Luis Ibarra Betancort, and the rector of the University of Las Palmas , José Regidor García.
The cooperation center was established to help South Korean fisheries and maritime companies to penetrate more easily into the waters of West Africa.
The ministry plans to build more centers Korean cooperation in the five main bases in the Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, South America, the Pacific and Africa.
