Washington, Oct. 13 ( Yonhap ) - The Green Climate Fund ( GCF ) , whose headquarters will open in December in Songdo , west of Seoul , unveiled its plan to manage the secretariat.
After a meeting of finance ministers and central bankers from the G -20 , in Washington, the South Korean minister , Oh Hyun - seok , said that the secretariat of the GCF plans to hire a total of 48 professionals in the first half of next year.
In June this year, the International Business District Songdo in Incheon , 40 kilometers west of Seoul , was selected to host the secretariat of the Green Climate Fund , a fund of the United Nations designed to channel money industrialized countries to developing countries to help them fight global warming and other problems related to climate change.
Hyun said at the opening ceremony of the secretariat, which will take place on December 4 , attended by the head of the International Monetary Fund , Christine Lagarde and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim .
"It seems the Climate Summit September next year is an important reason for financial resources ( the fund) ," Hyun said .
Of the $ 18.9 million needed to manage the FVC in 2014 , the South Korean government decided to offer a total of 2 million dollars , a million dollars this year and another million dollars next year, said the official Korean .
