SEOUL, Oct. 14 ( Yonhap ) - South Korea posted a trade surplus in September for 20th consecutive month , despite the decline in exports , data showed Monday Customs Service of South Korea.
In September, exports reached 44,710 million, a decrease of 1.5 percent, while imports recorded an annual decrease of 3.6 percent to 41.030 million , which the country had a trade surplus of 3.680 million.
The trade balance in South Korea recorded a surplus for the 20th consecutive month since February last year.
Shipments to countries in Latin America and China increased by 5.1 and 1.4 percent , while exports to the European Union and the United States decreased by 8.9 and 1.6 percent respectively , the data showed .
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, the trade surplus for South Korea reached 31,000 million. Exports rose 1.3 percent year on year to 413,300 million dollars, while imports reached 382,300 million, a decrease of 1.9 percent.
