Suncheon, South Korea, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) - The first international gardening expo in South Korea, held in the southern city of Suncheon, closed last Sunday after successfully achieve its goal of 4 million visitors, said, on Monday, the organizers of the event.

The event reached, on October 12, his goal of 4 million visitors, when they still was one week left.
In the closing ceremony, the Mayor of Suncheon, Cho Chung-hoon, said: "The exhibition will become the role model of international events managed by the provincial governments ... (Suncheon) continue to develop the site to make it garden # 1 in the country and a symbol of nature and the ecosystem.”
Meanwhile, Shin Won-sop, head of South Korea Forest (KFS, according to its acronym in English), echoed the mayor's view, adding that the event showed the potential of Korean industries related to gardening.
Vic Krahn, head of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), also said the event was a success in all aspects and hoped that South Korea used its experience in the future.
The festival offered a wide range of exhibits across four main sections-the Arboretum Area, Central Swamp Zone, Garden Zone World Bog-Zone, on its premises of 1.11 million square meters.
The site included 83 types of gardens, including 11 sites equipped with beautiful exotic views and the Greenhouse EcoGeo, the Museum and Library of Suncheon Wetlands International Center for Suncheon Bay.
