The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Hon. Mr. Hee-Kwon Park, soon concluding his mission in Spain, hosted on Monday 27th of November a dinner at his residence for the members of the Spanish-Korean Chamber of Commerce, of which he is Honorary President.
At the dinner, the Ambassador handed over to REPSOL the prize awarded by the Chamber to the Spanish company that most distinguished itself for its contribution towards the development of commercial relations between Spain and South Korea.
This award, first one of its kind awarded by the Chamber, was given to Mr. Luis Suárez de Lezo, General Secretary and of the Board of Directors of the oil company. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Suarez de Lezo emphasized on the excellentbusiness relationships that REPSOL maintains with all the Korean companies with which it relates to. He also highlighted the joint venture that REPSOL and SK, the heavyweight Korean oil company, have in the lubricant production plant in the city of Cartagena, in the Autonomous Spanish Region of Murcia. The plant, launched in 2015 with an investment amount of 250 million euros, now covers 40 percent of the European demand for lubricant bases.

The President of the Chamber, Mr. Javier Cremades, Mr. Josep Piqué, President of Honor, and Mr. Fernando Alonso, Deputy Director General for South and East Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation were also present at the busy dinner. In the same event, Mr. Javier Cremades presented Ambassador Park a plaque of recognition for his relentless and steadfast support of the work of the Spanish-Korean Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Cremades highlighted the disciplined, entrepreneurial and courteous spirit of the Koreans and noted that Ambassador Park is the best example of that spirit. President Cremades stated that the Chamber will continue working towards increasing the business and commercial relations between Korea and Spain.
Ambassador Park, in his Chamber award acceptance speech, pointed out that trade relations between both countries are at their best and that they continue to grow. In a moved manner, he said that his wife and him are admirers of Spain and that both have enjoyed the three years spent in our country. Before his departure, the Ambassador hopes to be able to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation that will allow an exchange whereby around two thousand Spanish and Korean students can go travel and work for a specific period in the respective countries.
