The Spanish's-Korean Chamber of Commerce organized last Thursday, February 7, a breakfast with Jerónimo Gracián, Investments Director of Kotra, Korea's commercial agency, as the principal exponent.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Hong-jo Chun, as well as representatives of leading companies in their sector, such as Iberdrola, Bankia, Korean Air or TmaxSoft. They also count with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs represented by Laura Carratalá, and Antonio García Rebollar, Training Director of ICEX. The meeting was chaired by Javier Cremades, as President of the Chamber, accompanied by Juan Luís Cebrián, who was also invited to the event.
The purpose of the presentation was to present the main sectors and investment opportunities in South Korea, from a practical perspective, explaining which are the products and services demanded by the market and by the Korean population, being South Korea configured as an ideal scenario for the experimentation of products and services of new technologies as it is a society that demands constant innovation.
Destacaba Jerónimo Gracián la necesidad de ofrecer productos y servicios disruptivos, a la vez que se debe intensificar el conocimiento de Corea de cara a la sociedad española. Al terminar la ponencia, el Señor Embajador concluyó afirmando que nos encontramos en una nueva etapa en las relaciones entre España y Corea, siendo el intercambio humano el factor determinante que está generando cada día más comercio entre ambos países.
Jerónimo Gracián highlighted the need to offer disruptive products and services, while at the same time intensifying knowledge of Korea for Spanish society. At the end of the presentation, the Ambassador concluded by stating that "we are in a new stage in relations between Spain and Korea, with human exchange being the determining factor that is generating more and more trade between the two countries".
The fact that there has been an exponential increase in the number of Korean tourists visiting Spain was emphasised. This Korean tourist, last year alone, were more than 400,000 and it is estimated that the number will continue to grow. This was evidenced by the establishment last year of a new Korean airline, Asiana Airlines, with flights between Barcelona and Seoul.
During the breakfast, a visit to Korea was announced, to be organized by the Chamber in November of this year.
