To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First March Movement that took place on March 1, 1919 with the Declaration of Independence of Korea before the Japanese Empire, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Spain will offer the `Spring Concert 'to take place on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sony Auditorium of the Reina Sofía School of Music, interpreted by the South Koreans Min Ji Kim (cello), Hayang Park (viola) and Seungju Mun (clarinet), students of the Reina Sofia School of Music and the Spanish teacher of the same School, Enrique Lapaz.
They will interpret the works of Pietro Antonio Locatelli and Sergei Prokofiev and also the most typical works of Korea like Arirang.
Through the `Spring Concert 'we wish to share and commemorate with the world the integrating spirit both in the Movement and in the provisional government, which defended the universal human principles of nonviolence and peace.
Free admission until full capacity is reached. Tickets can be collected two hours before the start of the concert at the School Reception.
ARTISTS
Min Ji Kim He was born in 1995 in Incheon, South Korea and began playing the cello at the age of six. He studied at the Seoul Institute of Arts and later at the National University of Arts in Korea with Myung-Wha Chung. In 2014, Min Ji Kim continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel with Monighetti and Sol Gabetta. The cellist has won prizes in many international competitions, in addition to the Lausanne Music Performance Contest in 2017. In 2018 she finished second in the Rahn String Instrument Music Competition and in the Paulo International Cell Competition in Helsinki. The cellist has also won the Frans-Helmerson Prize from the Kronberg Academy, as well as the Migros Culture Percentage Study Award. Min Ji Kim is a Rahn Kulturfonds Scholar since 2018. Kim has performed with many orchestras, including the Incheon Philharmonic, the Suwon Philharmonic of South Korea, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist and chamber musician, Min Ji Kim has given concerts in Europe and Asia.
Hayang Park He was born in Seoul, South Korea. With only 12 years old, he won the Leopold Bellan International Music and Dramatic Art Contest. In the fifteenth edition of the Tokyo Music Contest in 2017 he won the third prize in the string section and performed "Der Schwanendreher" by Hindemith with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also participated in numerous musical events such as: Kronberg Chamber Music Connects the World 2016 where he starred with Steven Isserlis, Christian Tetzlaff and Antje Weithaas; Kronberg Academy Festival in the years 2015 and 2017; and Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival 2016 with pianist Robert Mcdonald and violinist Ani Kavafian. In addition, he won the Concert Hearing at the Yewon Arts School where he performed as a soloist with the Yewon Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Center in 2013; and in turn he won the Kumho Prodigy Concert Audition and had a recital with the Kumho Asiana Culture Foundation in 2013. In 2014 he graduated from the Yewon School and in 2019 he completed his studies at Yonsei University, where he studied with Professor Sang -jin Kim. He is currently studying with Nobuko Imai at the Reina Sofia School of Music.
Seungju Mun He was born in South Korea in 1991. From 2010 to 2015, he studied with Kwangho Oh at the National University of Arts of Korea, where he obtained his degree in clarinet. Later, he continued his studies with Joachim Klemm at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden, where he got his master's degree in 2016. He has been awarded several prizes in national competitions, as the third prize in the Competition of the Korea Music Association in Seoul ( Seoul, 2006); first prize at the Eumyoun Festival (2007); second prize in the Chunchu Music Contest (2008); and first prize in the Sung-jung Music Contest (2008). Member of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Seoul from 2010 to 2012, and from 2012 to 2014 from the National Police Orchestra of Korea. From the 2017-2018 academic year, he studied at the Clarinet Chair at the Reina Sofia Music School with Professor Michel Arrignon. The Albéniz Foundation has awarded him a scholarship. As a student, he has been a member of the Harmonie Ensemble. He is currently a member of Cosan Quintet and of the Mutua Madrileña Foundation.
Enrique Lapaz, born in Valencia in 1988, has won numerous awards and performed concerts in the most important venues in Spain and Russia, as well as performed in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Norway. Its participation in different cycles and festivals of the national and international panorama stands out.
