South Korean mobile phone operator KT Corp. announced on Monday that its hotel service robot, enabled by artificial intelligence (AI) and other cutting-edge technologies, made its official debut at a hotel in Seoul.
The IA hotel robot, called N bot, began official service at the Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun Hotels & Residences to serve guests in about 100 rooms, according to KT Corp.
KT explained that it has applied its latest technologies - including 3D location mapping, autonomous driving and an AI camera - to develop the robot.
Guests will be able to order items via voice commands or a touch screen from KT's Giga Genie device from their room, and then the N bot will identify the location to deliver the items.
With the help of its autonomous driving technology, the robot will be able to climb on an elevator to move from one floor to another or dodge people coming in the opposite direction avoiding collisions.
KT said the robot was designed to provide new experiences for guests and help hotel staff focus on their core services.
