The Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, Yangwoo Park, have signed the Action Plan of the Biannual Tourism Program 2020-2021 to promote cooperation between governments and strengthen tourism relations between the two countries. This plan gives continuity to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the King and Queen's State visit to Seoul last October, which aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.
The plan aims to reinforce the understanding between both countries, promote the exchange of experiences and information in the field of tourism and cooperation, encourage cooperation between governments and strengthen tourism relations between both countries.
Maroto has stressed the Ministry intention that South Korean tourists increasingly bet on Spain in their travels to Europe. "The action plan will encourage the increase of these tourist flows, thus helping the search for a more diversified tourism to distant markets and higher quality.
South Korea has become the third most important issuing market in Asia for Spain, with the arrival of 568,000 tourists until November 2019, 27% more than during the same period in 2018.
