Until now, World Expos used to be held as state-of-the-art hardware exhibitions in large pavilions. However, the international community needs to orient its efforts to transform and develop the World Expo around a new concept. It needs to be turned into a platform for solutions to global challenges that seeks realistic, creative and innovative measures, rather than limiting it to a mere display of technological hardware. With this critical orientation, the Republic of Korea is devoting its utmost efforts to hold a new-concept World Expo in Busan, under the theme Transforming our World, Navigating to a Better Future.
